Xena Recommends #2

Hello everyone! I hope you are having a great day today. I wanted to do another Xena Recommends which is similar to my Weekly Favourites posts, only difference is that I recommend 2-3 things instead of 5 and they don't have to be things I've only discovered that week. I wanted to post something simple as I've been creating content non-stop and already posted something on Sunday. Anyways, I hope you like the things I mention and try them out for yourself!

If you are in need of a romantic comedy or new TV show...

Try No Tomorrow! This is the perfect two-in-one. I saw this on Netflix and it has such a high rating that I became curious as to what it is about. Evie Covington (the girl in picture) is having an existential crisis as her work as a quality-control assessor is stalled and her relationship is running on empty. All that changes when she meets Xavier (the guy in the picture) who is free-spirited and inspires her to live in the moment. She finds herself falling for him only to find out the way he lives his life is due to his belief that an apocalypse is coming.

I started this series this year and I cannot stop laughing! It's so cute and I love all of the witty characters and the wonderful script. It feels like forever since I've watched a TV show that makes me laugh so hard (besides The Mindy Project). I definitely would recommend this show to everyone! It inspires me to make my own bucket list and cross off some goals I have for myself this year.

If you are into historical fiction, romance, fantasy, or time travel...

Try Passenger by Alexandra Bracken!

Review:
My rating: 4.5 of 5 stars

I am so glad to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I did not have the best experience with The Darkest Minds since the writing wasn't that great and I felt the story dragged on way too long. So, after hearing great things about Passenger I wanted to see for myself if I would like it any better.

Alexandra's writing is so vivid and has definitely improved since TDM. I love how she would connect it back to music when writing in Etta's voice--I thought that was a really nice touch and flowed well with the story.

This book takes place in many different settings and eras which was probably my favourite part. I learned about a lot of new places from this book that I never even knew existed before which I found very interesting and informative.

Etta and Nicholas move quite quickly throughout the book but the scenes were written in a much slower pace which I really liked. Their romance was very sweet and I really appreciate that this book features an interracial couple.

Overall, I think this book was great and I can't wait to read Wayfarer and see how Alexandra wraps up this wonderful story.

I listened to a lot of instrumental and film scores while I was reading this book. Listening to music along with this incredibly epic plot totally changed my whole reading experience. The two flow so well together and added so much to the scenes I was reading. I was so inspired by this book that I created an 8tracks mix for it. You can click on the play button below and listen to it. It's a blend of instrumental and regular music. Let me know what you think in the comments!
