Happy Summer Everyone! School's out now so I have more free time to blog. I am so excited for this summer because I'm going to be busy—but the good kind of busy! Anyways, I have a few favourites this week that I would love to share with you. So if you are interested in finding out, then keep reading!

Oh...my...goodness. This book. THIS. BOOK. I died after reading this. Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare is the second instalment in The Dark Artifices series. The first book in this series is Lady Midnight which I read last year. I thought Lady Midnight was absolutely incredible and her best book to date. That is until I read Lord of Shadows. It blew Lady Midnight right out of the water. If you have read and enjoyed The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices series then you need to read this. It is an urban fantasy series that takes place in Los Angeles five years after the events that took place in The Mortal Instruments. The main characters were actually minor characters who made an appearance in City of Heavenly Fire. The characters are Shadowhunters, which are humans born with angel blood who slay demons and protect mundanes (humans). Every book Cassandra Clare writes is better than the previous one and Lord of Shadows is no exception. I was so emotional after reading it because THAT ENDING. I have so many theories for the next book, The Queen of Air and Darkness. Unfortunately, I have to wait TWO YEARS until its release. If you haven't read ANY of the Shadowhunter Chronicles then that's definitely something you should do this summer. I promise you will not regret it.

Speaking of the Shadowhunter Chronicles...I bought The Official Mortal Instruments Colouring Book!! I saw Cassandra Clare talking about it on her social media and was immediately obsessed. The drawings in here are gorgeously detailed and made by Cassandra Jean, who is a freelance illustartpr and comic artist. She works alongside Cassandra Clare and draws the characters from her books. I love how there are quotes on the left side which correspond with the drawing of the scene on the right side. I honestly can't wait to colour this book. I've been watching some colouring book tutorials by Sendaria13 and it has made me so inspired. I need to get Prismacolor Premier® Soft Core Coloured Pencil Set 72 pack because they are very blendable and will work great for this colouring book. I highly recommend getting a colouring book as a fun activity this summer.

My mom recently bought me The Body Shop Early-Harvest Raspberry Body Butter and Shower Gel because they were on sale. Last year I fell in love with the scent when I bought the Eau de Toilette. This range is perfect for summer and smells like you've been picking berries all day. I highly recommend you check out this scent and The Body Shop in general. It's one of the best body care stores ever.

I love this show so much. It is such a great comedy about girl power and doing what you love. Girlboss is a Netflix original about Sophia, who discovers a passion for fashion and becomes an unlikely businesswoman in the process. As her business grows, she learns to navigate being her own boss and owning her own company. This show is very loosely based on the true story of Nasty Gal Founder, Sophia Amoruso who wrote #girlboss back in 2015. Britt Robertson plays the character of Sophia and this role suits her so well. I have been watching Britt Robertson since she was in Life Unexpected (which is a great show by the way) and since then she's been in so many great movies. I'm so glad she landed this roll because she is rocking it. I highly recommend if you need a little laugh and a little inspriation.

Lorde's album, Melodrama just recently came out on June 16, 2017 and I love it. I talked about Green Light in another post and since then she has had two more singles: Sober and Perfect Places. I am soooo obsessed with both of them, especially Sober. The whole album is just so amazing. I have so many favourites it's hard to decide. I can't even describe her new style but I absolutely love Lorde and I am so happy for her comeback.

I have been obsessed with Dua Lipa's music since last year after hearing Be The One, Last Dance, New Love and then months later Hotter than Hell. Since then she has released many more singles from her self titled album as well as collaborations with Martin Garrix and Sean Paul. After pushing back her debut album, IT'S FINALLY HERE! AND. I. AM. OBSESSED. I feel like I've said that word in this post so much but I really am. The whole album is so good but the ones I recommend the most including the ones I mentioned earlier are Garden, New Rules (which is going to be her next single!!), and Genesis (the acoustic version is also so beautiful). I highly recommend you check out her music. She's incredibly talented and deserves even more fans.

I have loved Lady Antebellum's music since I heard Need You Now and Just A Kiss. After taking a year break, they are back with their new album, Heart Break, and I love it. My favourite songs on the album are You Look Good, Heart Break, Somebody Else's Heart, Big Love In A Small Town, and Home.

#1: TV Show

Thirteen Reasons Why is such an emotional, gripping, and powerful new show. If you haven't heard of it, essentially, it is about a 17-year-old girl named Hannah Baker who commits suicide. Clay Jensen, the boy in the poster above, gets a set of cassette tapes that Hannah created and on each one is a different reason why Hannah decided to take her life. It's a very important show to watch and shows how much one person can effect someone's life. I read the book a few years ago and thought it was pretty good but I loved the ending the most. The show changed a few things and due to a lot of things being left unresolved I believe (I hope) season 2 becomes a thing. I highly recommend you watch it but be aware that there are trigger warnings for violence, self-harm, suicide, and rape. 

#2: Music

÷ (Divide) by Ed Sheeran takes the cake for album of the year and the year's not even over yet! I love every song on this album, no joke. His songs always resonate with me and make me feel so happy. He is a truly talented person, I mean his songwriting and ability to evoke so much emotion in his songs is just incredible. Non-stop been playing this album and I think it's one of my favourites of all time.

#3: Books

I am addicted! I just recently started the Royally Series by Emma Chase. I read Royally Screwed and Royally Matched in two days each (4 days altogether). Mind you, they are short books but they are so unputdownable. 

Royally Screwed is about Prince Nicholas Pembrook, Crowned Prince of Wessco, who is incredibly handsome and used to being bowed down to. Then, one snowy night in Manhattan, the prince meets a dark haired beauty, Olivia Hammond, who doesn’t bow down. Instead, she throws a pie in his face. He becomes very intrigued by her and wants to take her out on a date. For waitress Olivia Hammond, dating a prince isn't what she imagined it would be like. There’s a disapproving queen, a wildly inappropriate spare heir, relentless paparazzi, and brutal public scrutiny. But to Olivia―Nicholas is worth it. Nicholas grew up with the whole world watching, and now Marriage Watch is in full force. In the end, Nicholas has to decide who he is and, more importantly, who he wants to be: a King... or the man who gets to love Olivia forever.

 Royally Matched is the sequel to Royally Screwed but it's not a continuation. It follows a different couple but I highly recommend you read Royally Screwed first as the male main characters are related and both are incredibly witty and a bit naughty. 

These were incredible fun and entertaining books. I loved Royally Screwed but I think I love Royally Matched even more because the main girl is a librarian who loves romance books!! ALSO, the (last?) book in this series, Royally Endowed, comes out June 15, 2017. So, if you are intrigued then definitely go read the first two so you can read the last one when it comes out. Highly, highly recommend if you are a sucker for romance and princes like myself. 

#4: Body Care 

Bath and Body Works recently came out with their new French Collection and it was actually on sale (it's on sale for $6.50 until April 23, 2017) so my mom and I got some new products. I love this collection. Every scent smells sooo good. B&BW really stepped up their game because the scents smell so expensive. I got both La Fleur (1) and Rose Champagne (2) in a Body Cream (1) (2) and Fine Fragrance Mist (1) (2). La Fleur smells like you just rolled around in a beautifully smelling garden and Rose Champagne smells like candy, roses, and fizz. I am beyond impressed with the smell and the packaging of these products. I can't wait until the French candles come out!

Well...long time, no write. My last post was over a month ago!!! I honestly cannot believe this. I am so sorry for my absence. Two factors contributed to why I have not posted in so long: 1) I got the flu which was so horrible so I missed a week 2) I had lots of schoolwork to catch up on, as well as, tests and quizzes to study for. I am back now! I have a fun post today which you already knew by the title: Weekly Favourites! Lots of new discoveries and obsessions this month so if you want to learn more, then keep reading! 

#1: TV Shows

Riverdale is honestly my new obsession. It's based on the Archie comics but instead of just being a teen drama it's also a murder-mystery series. It's like Archie meets Scooby-Doo in a way. The series starts off with the tragic death of quarterback Jason Blossom on the Fourth of July and figuring out who in the town killed him. It's so addictive it's insane. Definitely check this one out on The CW or Netflix. 

I have been watching The Fosters every Tuesday since the fourth season started and it has been so dramatic. I've been watching this show since it started back in 2013 and it's honestly one of my favourites. If you don't know what this show is about, essentially it is about the Fosters family which consists of lesbian couple Stef and Lena, a police officer and a school vice principal, who raise a multi-ethnic blended family that consists of one biological son (Brandon) and for adopted children (Mariana, Jesus, Callie, and Jude) in San Diego, California. It's a really great show that touches on many themes such as family, love, and LGBT to name a few. This is a must-watch for the new generation in my opinion.

#2: Movie

I recently watched The Edge of Seventeen and it is so hilarious. If you know me then you know I love coming-of-age movies because they explore everything that comes with being a teenager. I always complain about how there are no good coming-of-age movies in recent times. And now my prayers have finally been answered! This movie is about Nadine (Hailee Steinfeld) whose life becomes increasingly unbearable when her best friend, Krista, starts dating her older brother. I know, I know, it sounds cliché but it's really good. I love watching Nadine deal with all the changes going on in her life. Plus, the comedy is great. Highly recommend!

#3: Music

Green Light by Lorde is the perfect dance-like-crazy-in-your-room pop song. Lorde hasn't released music in 3 years so I was so excited when this came out on March 2nd. Her new ablum Melodrama is coming out June 16, 2017--the cover art to which is above (isn't it gorgeous?). Click on the link to listen to the song!

Hero by Maren Morris is one of my new favourite albums. It's like alternative meets country-pop which is such a great and unique blend. I love every song on this album but my absolute favourites are I Could Use a Love Song, How It's Done, I Wish I Was, and Once. 

The Breaker by Little Big Town is another album I've been loving lately. I fell in love with their single Better Man which was written by Taylor Swift. This ablum is just very soothing and very easy to listen to. My favourite tracks are Better Man, Night On Our Side, Lost in California, and When Someone Stops Loving You. 

#4: Book

I just finished reading A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab and oh my gosh it was fantastic. This book is about Kell, who is one of the last Travelers--magicians with a rare ability to travel between parallel universes.

There is Grey London (our London but set in 1818) dirty, boring, and magicless with mad-king George III in power. Red London, where life and magic are revered and also where Kell was raised alongside Rhy Maresh, the rougish heir to a flourishing empire. White London, a place where people fight to control magic and the magic fights back, draining the city to its very bones. And Black London, which no longer exists and is not spoken of. 

Offically, Kell is a Red traveler, ambassador of the Maresh empire, carrying the monthly correspondences between the royals of each London. Unofficially, Kell is a smuggler, servicing people willing to pay for even the smallest glimpses of a world they'll never see. It's a defiant hobby with dangerous consequences, which Kell is now seeing firsthand. 

Fleeing into Grey London, Kell runs into Delilah Bard, a cut-purse with lofty aspirations. She robs him, saves him from a deadly enemy, and finally forces Kell to spirit her to another world for a proper adventure. 

Now perilous magic is afoot, and treachery lurks at every turn. To save all of the worlds, they'll first need to stay alive.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Loved the world building, magic system, and the incredible cast of characters!! I also really enjoyed the friendship developing between Kell and Lila. Though, Rhy wasn't a main character in this book I hope to see more of him in the sequel because he is just all kinds of charming and witty. Can't wait to see where this trilogy goes because this first book was very promising.

This is probably my favourite thing I've gotten for myself recently. It is a throw pillow designed by Charliebowater on her Society6 page. It is inspired by Sarah J. Maas's book A Court of Mist and Fury which is my favourite book I've read this year. I love the characters so much so I was searching the internet to see if there was any fan art inspired by the book. I found so much and I just wanted them all. I decided to go with Charliebowater's as I love her designs because they look exactly the way I pictured these cast of characters to look like. I love purple and this pillow matches my room decor so well. I would definitely check out her work and Society6 to get some neat and unique pieces for your living space.

My mom recently went to The Body Shop and told me about their new scents. I went with her to the store and when I smelled Vanilla Chai I flipped out. It is so delicious and cozy for the winter. For Christmas, she got me most of the range because I love it so much. My favourites are the Softening Body Butter and Body Shimmer Mist. I have dry skin and this body butter leaves my skin feeling so soft and doesn't make my skin look crackly or white (TMI I know but this happens to me when I don't use good moisturizers). The shimmer mist gives your skin a nice shimmer for lack of a better word. It smells scrumptious and I love wearing these products day and night. I hope they continue to sell it after the winter season is over. I just love The Body Shop because they sell fair trade products and their scents are so natural smelling and great quality. Check them out as they also sell makeup, skincare, and products for men as well.

Where I live a few NYX stores have been opening up these past few months. This is so great as I've loved their brand for years now and their products were only available in a very tiny section at Shoppers Drug Mart. They sell good quality makeup for a much better price than other makeup brands. I went to their store a few times in the past month and got some things for myself. I purchased their Ombre Blush in Strictly Chic, Butter Lipstick in Midnight Swim, and their Butter Gloss in Angel Food Cake. I wear the blush and lip gloss everyday and I just bought the lipstick on Boxing Day so I plan to interchange the two lip colours or wear them together on a daily basis. They are so pretty and so natural-looking which is what I look for when purchasing makeup. I would definitely check out NYX if these products interest you.

I went to Indigo on Boxing Day as there were two books that I've been wanting to read for a while and haven't gotten around to yet. I purchased Passenger by Alexandra Bracken and On the Fence by Kasie West. I read The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken which I briefly discussed my thoughts on in my last post. To recap, I didn't really love it all that much as it dragged on and the writing wasn't my favourite either. After I finished I wasn't really inclined to read the next book so I kind of just gave up on continuing on with the series. I heard about this book at the end of last year and thought it sounded interesting. I decided to pick it up now because it is a duology and the second book, Wayfarer, is coming out January 2017. I joined a book club earlier this year called BOOKSPLOSION which was created by my favourite YouTubers. They choose a book of the month and you read it before the live show discussion that takes place towards the end of the month. During that live show they discuss the book, what they liked about it, and the people joining in ask questions on Twitter and they answer those as well. They chose Wayfarer for January and I haven't read Passenger yet so I want to finish that hopefully within the next week. 

Passenger is about violin prodigy, Etta Spencer, who loses everything she loves in one devastating night. She finds herself stuck in the midst of a fierce sea battle in an unfamiliar world, where she realizes she hasn't just traveled miles, but years from home. She has inherited a legacy she knows nothing about from a family she never knew existed--until now. With the arrival of this unusual passenger on his ship, Nicholas Carter has to confront his past and the Ironwood family who he has tried to escape from. Now the Ironwoods are searching for a stolen object of untold value; one they believe only Etta can find. Together, Etta and Nicholas embark on a perilous journey across centuries and continents, piecing together clues that were left behind. But as they get closer to the truth of their search, and the deadly game the Ironwoods are playing, treacherous forces threaten to separate Etta from Nicholas, and her way home, forever. 

Tell me that doesn't sound good. I was also intrigued to read this as I heard Nicholas is African-American. I love diverse books because it's so nice to read about a character that reminds you of yourself, whether that be personality-wise, situation-wise, or appearance-wise. I started it Wednesday night and I'm really hoping for the best with this one as I was a bit iffy about her first book. I have heard that this book is a YA version of Outlander which I read earlier this year and really enjoyed. 

I talked out Kasie West in my December TBR and I really enjoyed P.S. I Like You. Now, I have one last book of hers to read that has been published and I'll be all caught up. If you did not know, Kasie West is an incredible YA contemporary romance writer and her books always leave you feeling happy, warm, and fuzzy. I expect nothing less from this book. On the Fence is about a girl named Charlotte Reynolds, aka Charlie, who has three older brothers and has always been more comfortable calling the shots on a basketball court than flirting with the opposite sex. So when her police officer dad demands she get a summer job to pay for the latest in a long line of speeding tickets, she's more than a little surprised to find herself working at a chichi boutique and going out with a boy who has never seen her tear it up in a pickup game. Charlie seeks late-night refuge in her backyard, talking out her problems with her neighbour and honorary fourth brother, Braden. But there's a secret Charlie's keeping that even he hasn't figured out--she's fallen for him. 

Sounds super cute, fluffy, and fun. Can't wait to hopefully getting around to reading this in January.

When I went to the Dan + Shay concert they played this song while everyone was settling in and taking their seats. I loved it right when I heard it. It's called Gettin' in the Way by Keith Urban which is on his new album Ripcord. I've really been into country music lately especially watching Nashville all the time. It is just so catchy and he has such a lovely voice. I hope you enjoy the song!

If you have been keeping up with my posts then you would know that I've been binge-reading the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas. I am currently on the fourth book, Queen of Shadows, and I have high hopes for this since I've heard countless times that it's the best book in the entire series so far. This series is perfect for anyone who loves romance, fantasy, or young adult. I don't want to share the summary of this book because I don't want to spoil anything. If you are interested in this series then definitely pick it up. It's a good one!

One of my favourite singers, Birdy, released a new song recently along with Sigma. I love how they sound together--with Birdy's beautiful and strong voice mixed with the electric rhythm and beats of the track. Birdy is an indie/folk singer so it's nice to hear her try out different styles of music. I also had to mention this song because Millie Bobby Brown is the video! If you don't know who Millie is, she starred as Eleven in Stranger Things, which is an amazing Netflix original series that I talked about in my first Weekly Favourites post. She displays so much emotion in this video and the way they filmed it worked so well with the song. Definitely watch the video that I linked above and you will fall in love with this song and Birdy as well.

I am so excited for Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life!!! Earlier this year I finished the entire Gilmore Girls series and I fell in love with this show and all of it's original and unique characters. I am so looking forward to seeing how Rory's and Lorelai's lives have changed in the past ten years since the show has ended. I hope to see Rory with Jess (yes, I am on #TeamJess), Lorelai and Luke, Emily, Lane and Zach's kids, as well as, Sookie and Jackson and their kids. I just really want to see the whole gang and what stages of life they are in. I hope this mini-series will gives us Gilmore Girls fans the spectacular conclusion we wish for to this wonderful, witty, and original show.

I'm always pinning and creating new boards on my Pinterest account. Recently, I've added 5 new boards and I wanted to share my favourite one. I always find beautiful pictures and quotes on Pinterest that I just don't know where to place in the boards I've made. I created this one for this exact reason. Any picture I don't know where to put usually ends up here. I just love how it's so colourful and all over the place. It is really a creative space that I love looking through to get ideas or inspiration.

This is the second book in the A Court of Thorns and Roses series by Sarah J. Maas. I loved the first one and after the way things went down, of course I had to continue on with this series. This story is about a huntress named Feyre, who is out hunting for her and her family one day and she spots a wolf in the forest. She kills the wolf and is confronted by a beast-like creature who demands retribution for it. She is taken to the magical faerie realm of Prythian, which she has heard legends of over the years. She discovers that her captor is not a an animal but Tamlin--one of the deadly and immortal faeries who once ruled their world. As she is kept at his estate, her icy hostility towards Tamlin transforms into a fiery passion that extinguishes everything she's heard about his kind over the years. But an ancient, wicked shadow looms over the faerie lands, and Feyre must stop it before she dooms Tamlin--and his world--forever. This retelling of Beauty and the Beast is a wonderful blend of fantasy and romance. So far, I'm almost to the middle of the second book--A Court of Mist and Fury--and it is even better than the first one. Can't wait to finish/don't want to finish this book (so conflicting!). If you're interested by the synopsis, then I would definitely check it out. You won't be disappointed.

Oh my gosh... I went to Loblaws on the weekend and look what I found. Cheetos came out with a new flavour! Since it's Halloween themed I'm afraid it's only out during October *cries*. These taste so so sooooooo good. They are the "puff" version of Cheetos which I've never really liked so I was really hoping I would enjoy these. I love everything cheese so it's no surprise that I wanted to try these out for myself. But what's even more fun than the flavour of these is that by using the four shapes in the bag they create a skeleton! I have yet to actually make the skeleton since all I've been doing is stuffing my mouth with this.... but oh well. Guess that gives me an excuse to buy another bag!

I watched Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children over the weekend and it was so incredibly amazing. Tim Burton was the perfect director for this movie. His vivid imagination commingled with the quirkiness and creepiness of the book worked so well together and translated fantastically to the big screen. This movie is based on a book by Ransom Riggs so if you are interested in reading it before watching it in theatres, you can buy it here. I did not read the book before watching the movie so I don't know if the movie followed the book exactly. Besides that though, I really enjoyed the film. Since the books are in a series, hopefully, with the movies good ratings there will be more movies to come. I highly recommend if you want to watch something that's quirky and original with lots of vibrant colour and good messages.

I just love these two songs so much and have been playing them on repeat all week. I chose these two young female artists for this week's weekly favourite's so if you've never heard of them, I would really recommend checking them out.

Strange Birds is so powerful and emotional. Birdy has such a strong and mature voice and I've loved her music for a long time now. I recently found out that this song is co-written by Sia which is pretty interesting since it does sound like a song that she would sing. The minute I heard this song it reminded me of Skyfall by Adele which is such a powerful song as well. Such an amazing song sung by such an incredible young talent.

On Purpose by Sabrina Carpenter is a pop-y love song with honest and meaningful lyrics accented with a nice beat. I just love the uniqueness that is her voice and how she writes songs about love but doesn't make them cheesy or redundant but rather different, refreshing, and purposeful (get it? *wink wink hint hint nudge nudge*). I have just been listening to and loving the rest of her new album EVOLution that came out on October 14th. It's so different from her last album and you can definitely hear her growth and different style in her new music.

I went to Baskin-Robbins with my mom on the weekend and I tried their new flavour BeaverTails Pastry in a waffle cup with Oreo bits as my topping. It was crazy, out-of-this-world amazing! It's a cinnamon flavoured ice cream with gooey caramel and fried dough mixed in with it. *Sigh* This is my new favourite flavour besides Cookies 'n Cream which is my ultimate favourite flavour from Baskin-Robbins. I would definitely recommend trying this before it's too late!

I randomly felt like baking this week and I was really in the mood for some carrot cake cupcakes, so that's exactly what I did! I picked up some Betty Crocker Super Moist Carrot Cake Mix and poured into a cupcake pan and used Betty Crocker French Vanilla Deluxe Frosting to frost my cupcakes. They came out super moist and spongy and stayed that way for days! Also, topped with the french vanilla frosting-- heavenly! It turned out to be a great hit as my family loved it so much. Since my aunt Sue's birthday is coming up soon, she asked me to make it again for the celebration. I don't blame her-- they're very addicting!

This might be my favourite thing I've completed this week. I always look forward to reading Colleen Hoover's books since she's my favourite author. I've read so many of her works already and always find that I'm never disappointed with what she releases. This book is so powerful, truthful, important, and puts things into perspective as well. This is some of her most honest writing and is probably my favourite book she's ever written. I truly recommend this to everyone. If you only read one of her books, choose this one. I seriously can't stop thinking about it since the day I finished it. This is on a totally other level regarding her other books and I just can't wait for her next release as always.

This show... I've heard a lot of buzz regarding this series lately and I've wanted to check it out for myself for some time. I thought it would be too scary so I ended up avoiding it. That was until my aunt, Sue, said she finished all 8 episodes within a few days and that it was really good and not as scary as I was thinking it to be. On Wednesday night, we started watching it and I was immediately hooked. It's about a boy named Will, who goes missing one night after racing one of his friends home. As his mother, friends, and the police department go searching after him they start to unravel extraordinary mysteries that involve secret government experiments, supernatural forces, and a peculiar little girl. I have 3 episodes left to go but I am holding off until my aunt comes back next week so we can binge watch the rest on her birthday. I would recommend watching this if you are into sci-fi or just looking for a new and interesting show to watch.

Lastly, this is the playlist I've been listening to on repeat all week. I'm so obsessed with all of these songs and most of them are sung by my favourite artists (Imagine Dragons and Broods). I love music so much and I find that it's something I always reach for when I want to relax or be productive (chores, homework, etc). I hope you enjoy this playlist I made on my Spotify!
